On this week's episode we preview the upcoming two thousand and twenty one twenty two season. Lauren Smith and Anthony the Paul officially joined the podcast and we start with a rundown of training camp in this year's preseason. We then get to everyone's favorite segment with a fresh start to the e crew fantasy challenge. Finally, we wrap things up by previewing what to watch for during the opening weekend, including a rematch of the ehl championship game from this past March. Welcome back to the east show. Let's bring in the e crew and it's finally a full edition of the podcast. I'm going to introduce each one of them to you, coming back for his third season. Or two and a half? Is it? Jeff? Jeff Mills Coming on here? It's a podcast. Really this is two and a half. I mean we league itself back to two thousand and fourteen as far as calling games, but on the podcast I think it's two and a half because we started in the January of two thousand and nine ninety. Yes, yes, I did a decade ago, basically, let's say ten, twenty years ago, you know, two thousand and nineteen, and then joining the podcast for the very first time. I'll first introduce Laurence Smith, our new rankside reporter. Lauren, you excited. I've been looking forward to this. I've had this marked out of my counter for quite a while now and coming on the podcast for the first time. But he's been in the League for a while as well. Like Jeff. It's Anthony to Apolo, our beat writer for the year. Welcome to the e show, Anthony. Thank you, Neil. Yes, this is my fifth season working with the New Jersey d sevens and now I've the honor being the beat writer for the Eastern Hockey League. It's been nearly six months since the the frozen finals ended, so I can't believe that tomorrow's and start of the season. I'm just really excited for this and we're going to post more video content from the podcast this year, kind of like spending checklist does. And why is say that? Is because we're all on video right now and there's someone that isn't on video right now, but his name has been dropped in this podcast throughout the first eighty eight episodes. Right, Jeff, I think we've probably executive producer. I think we've probably Jo dropped Justin Squitterry's name too many times. Justin the Voice of God, could you just say hello, because we can't see you. WHOA, you'll not hear me very much. There he is, MR EP of self. It's a Justin squittier. It only took us eighty nine episodes for him to come on. It only took us only that episodes. Hey, it's not triple digits, Neal, you know, Abe Nice. Yes, I mean it's the run but, like I said, he's jumping on. He's gonna kind of hang out in the podcast all year will probably jump in when we get a fact wrong. That'll be that'll be the that'll be the perfect time for that. We get a fact wrong. If we're talking about playing games, if we're talking about hat trick points, those are all don't talk about playing games. Oh Man, Jud go and how much one points and hat trick points. Like we're gonna get to fantasy later on this. We do this every podcast. All right, because we want to talk about fantasy now. I want to talk about fancy now, because I am rattled already that like every guy that I picked. You guys picked. WHOOPS, but we'll get to that. Let's start with the weekly run down. It's time for the e cruise weekly run down. The show. Week we run down is brought to you by the junior hockey podcast, you home for junior hockey news, knowledge and nonsense. Trick them out a TJJ PODCASTCOM and the weekly run down, formally known as around the show for those that tuned in last year. It's typically a chance for us to look back at the week that was, the week that took place, and obviously the week that took place there alsomility, a week that took place. So our season, our season is obviously starting tomorrow them, and there's so many different games and matchups to watch out for. I find it funny how opening week and we're going to start looking down south. Jeff will remember this because he was on at the end of the year in the playoffs. We had Marilyn take on the rough riders very and in that first round. Yep, you remember who the only person was to pick against Maryland in that playoff series? You're talking to him right now. Is it was Neil? That's right, that's and I actually remember this. It was very Gunty, the...

...owner of team Maryland. Right, they called you out on instagram. He all, I called them on the phone and it was probably a month after the season. Who knows what we're supposed to be talking about, because he answered the phone with did you call me to apologize? I said what? I don't know what I did. What do I have to apologize for? And he said for being the only idiot that didn't pick my team. But what makes it unique is the rough riders were undefeated against team Maryland regular season last year. Anthony, you saw the rough riders a lot. Are they jeckeline hide or is that just was that just kind of the trend last year. I felt like they went from awesome game to not an awesome game, back and forth all year. Lung well, I saw a firsthand when the rough riders would face they seven. It's because there are times where the the rough riders be able to get a win against the savings, but then other games eighty sevens would win like nine nothing, eight, one, just he's like really onesided, high scoring games. But I'm also going to reference the previous beat writer, Kyle McKenna, who said it best and I fully agree with where team Maryland is is a team that's built for the playoffs, where Josh FOSCO has a very like meat and potatoes, just grind it out kind of play stile, where all the players buy into a even their top player in Dennis Arcapanko, where they block shots, they take the body and it's just meant for them this season. And I and even though a team might be undefeated against one team in the regular season, you know we've seen it at all levels where that could just get tossed out the window. Yeah, so Carlin was able to do that and advanced past the the rough riders. I was actually just going to say, a tuna. We should have looked at that and then like well, every dog has their day, right, if you won the regular season series, that maybe the playoffs comes around and when I have the same what, because that team seen you quite a bit of times during the regular season. But I think if you look back at the schedule, I think the rough riders went to Maryland backtoback weekends. There too, it was like last week in the regular season and then the first week and of the playoffs. And I'm going to knock on what as I say this, it was because all those like quarantine restrictions were in place last year. Yep, in the middle of that week in but tween restrictions got were made easier, if you will, I guess you could say, for the rough riders, because the first week they had to play in Delaware because if they had played in Maryland they would not have been able to stay in the state of Maryland because of the twenty four hour rule that Knecticut hadn't place. So, thinking back on it, like I probably should have picked Maryland because that's a lot of travel for one team to go back to that right. But yeah, but I had to be contrary to pick somebody the other team, because the rest of you all pick the same guy. I was gonna say I think that was maybe our fault. For me, Brittany Kyle's, all of our picks were what they were and you were trying to go different, which is good. You know, try to create we try to stir the pot right. We did that well last year. We're going to try to continue to do that this year because a lot of coaches, a lot of players liked everything we said in the minute we post stuff, Bam you get immediate reactions, good, bad, in the middle, and that's what we want. We're talking about the league. We put the League on the map and we're doing a heck of a job and we got to keep going and think what's all as what do you guys say, Anthony? No, I was going to say you guys are talking about coverder stricches. I think the other thing to note about team Maryland is that they didn't get to play single game plan the Orchard Arena last season. We got to play until the playoffs, until the playoffs, yes, going they think they so got to play Maryland, but that's say. It went county by county with their restriction, so each county had their own set of rules. It was so even though they got to play in Maryland. I think Josh's telling me that their rank that they played him was in over an hour away from pliny orchards. so He everything was all mice. Yeah, but not really home ice. It was called Ice Swirl, I swear. Oh, it's real. We wise works as world. Yeah, that's right. But what's unique is, like I start jumping right back into it. Right, it's a three game series. They play Friday, Saturday Sunday. We're going to get the fantasy, as I mentioned earlier. Right, we always tease that seventeen times per episode. Right. But what's what? When all the rosters come in, like it's obviously like an influx to our inboxes, myself and Justin, Justin, you can hear me, but we always post them and then I look quickly to see, like what pops out with the rough riders this year, for the goaltenders. They don't have a single age out goaltender. They have two hundred and twos and, awe, hundred and three. I said, we're going to get the fantasy, but Lauren, you picked a goalie who I'm going to put you on the spot right now. I don't even know how to begin pronouncing this last thing. Yeah, you kind of you gave me a contact to reach out to from the team and it was interesting. I was not expecting such a quick response, but I'm definitely grateful for it, and I was honestly looking at his name. Two couldn't have told you how you were supposed to pronounce it, but I think kind of fits.

Once I listened to it. His name is Daniel Noirrowitz. is how he said it. Only the world contact you gave me. He had. He sent me an audio file of Daniel actually saying it. So it's a hundred percent correct because he said it. So it's Daniel Noirwitz, and makeing a chance on him, I think. I think he could be the dark horse. Who knows? So, when you guess that contact was Mr Steve Brown, is, yeah, it's true. So, Steven, he's a lot like me, where I think we have comparable OCD right is that? I think that's a fair statement. Right. I. You know what I hate is like what I texted you just to text Steven. I had then started texting. He's gonna send you an audio filing not to believe me. I have started texting that and I hit forgot to hit send and the text box. You know what you do that? I do that all the time out of a why? I mean, as as Vicky, she's like why didstect me? But text me back I'm like, what's in the textbox because I don't believe you. But it happens to me a lot for some reason. I have a lot going on in my head. So and in your life and in your phone. And then but three games, obviously to watch this weekend between those two teams. Who I mean? I think we could all go out on a limb here and say all three games could be very close. That's not the only matchups for the weekend, though. There's obviously a bunch of other ones that really stand out. Funny how that was one first round matchup from last year. Marilyn rough riders in the playoffs. The other was the ducks in the apple core. They also played in the first round last year and they have a home and home series to start this year and kind of a late offseason addition, if you will, for the apple core is Jackson Bernard. I know if Kyle is here to be screaming it out. He Walked Bernard last year and I think I had something to do with the fact that Bernard obviously as an age out this year. I have to check it with Michael Azazar. I think he's kind of just deferred his commitment till next year at Augsburg. But Bernard, I mean Anthony, you can kind of attest to this. I think he was like an underrated goalie because of the shots that he saw every game. Is that a fair statement? Yeah, I mean any time that Bernard team up against the the eighty seven's up, there's a there's a phrase where if you say something enough times, it just doesn't make sense in your head. I think it's fannetic sadiation, where that was basically the case with Jackson Bernard, because I was saying his name over and over again because he was making these ridiculous saves against the eighty sevens players who, you know, Adam holy style of plays, very offensive, attack heavy and he kept Apple Court in the game. So I think coming back for another year in the EHL, he can really lead this apple court team and do some damage. He's a very good go I mean we talked about it in the offseason podcast right now. We went through Jackson Bernard when we were making these the all e show lineup, all time lineup teams, and we went through Bernard's numbers and we were both like astonished. I mean we remembered from last year we did the PODCAST, but he was making fifty plus saves some games. I remember one of the Games he had sixty five saves, like, I mean that's unbelievable. Defense has to get a little stronger in front of him. Sure coach L Zazzaro would agree with that point, but I believe metler's coming back, so that could be a good key peace James Metler. He's another good one. So I mean just heard someone to watch for, though. Listen to some of these totals down the stretch, for forty seven, sixty five, forty eight, forty three, thirty six, thirty one, forty six, hundred and forty six, I mean in that playoff series. I think that's what stands out to me is the playoff series with the ducks was one nothing game won right, and then it was to one in overtime game two. So we talked about this at length last year. It's a sweep for the ducks right at two game to none sweep. Yeah, but those are toss ups at the end of the day. When you when you look back at how close the matchups were, they could have gone either way. Oh for sure. Thirty one saves was his lightest day of work. That's actually a higher amount of work for most goaltenders. But, and we did put them on the all time line up. We put them with Blake most Talah, Tim Sestak and Jackson Burnard. So we had to the guys and the guys in front of him for goaltenders. Each one goalie of the year awards in their respective conferences in college. So maybe there's a little future there for Jackson Bernard. But obviously we're going to get to our what to watch for and we're probably going to talk about this game again there. I think that we cannot not talk about the game, game of opening weekend. Cheff, you know what I'm talking about? I think I do. What Hedho? What is it? The avalanche and Rangers always play at the beginning of every year. They do. We were on the call for was that last year? We were on the colligation.

Yes, D it, but there I don't know if I'm calling Sunday's game. I think Tyler maybe calling Sunday's game. Taking a little step back. I gotta rest a voice this year. Yeah, I almost lost my voice the finals last year. I don't know why. Maybe we had fun. Yeah, we did. We did. But with these two teams they always play very early on in the year. For those that are asking why it's not the first game of the season, I will answer the question very quickly. That's because rich to Caprio, the head coach of the Rangers, is suspended for the first game for a penalty that he got the end of last year. So they it was so like funny how they like scheduled it. They are like, well, why don't we both play the spartans first and then we play each other second? Right, so, if you look at the schedule, Friday is spartans Rangers, Saturday is Spartans Avalanche, Sunday is avalanche rangers. So so I don't know if bret try to volunteered himself with the seacoast spartans. kind of risky, if you will. I don't know. Not that he's bolds they played burly well done the stretch. I could see tried ter being bold and one of them. You know what, right, you got it. You got to Restarty, the Sparty Party, the SPARTY party. There we go at the Best Party party that had a three week training camp up at j peak, which, Lauren, I had to look on the map. Where is that? Like? Honestly, I'm fortunately can't tell you. I've heard of it plenty of times. I've heard it's quite nice, but I have never been myself, so I probably wouldn't be able to tell you where it is. Unfortunately, it's so it's heard of it. It's like I want to say it's like an hour north of Burlington, like well, that's pretty close to the boarder then, because Burlington's pretty close to the Canadian border up there anyway. So yeah, and we're going to cover how the lumberjacks are like your favorite team already. I mean everyone has their favorite team in this podcast, right. Anthony's got the eight stefens. Everyone knows that. Jeff, you don't have any walpole gear. Yeah, but neither does Justin any works for them full time, true, but you don't really coach Holmes Trimmer Week, developed a good friendship the last year, to call games to them. So I'm going to talk to Josh see what I can get. You know from Yorks. Will See. Yes, laurens will probably be Vermont pasty. You never know, it's it might be my hometown team, but hey, you never know, I could end up like in a completely different team. If you if you've heard about my nhl favoritism's, you'd be very like confused. So, Lauren does love? Read the robot. I'm Jack Step read in their Jersey's. Yes's flannels jerseys. Whoop, I I almost. I almost put it on this week, but I decided to be focused on the league this week instead of my lumberjacks Jersey or my wizard's Jersey. I have a lot of teams, though. I mean I got really on as Jeff was on the red train last year. I was really into the Blue Jew train. Yes, you are the railers, which reports from camp are the railers are going to be really good this year. got that text from multiple people after which is their coaches, which is great to feel confident, right, but will me laurn AD Justin we're looking at them a little bit because we're talking about trying to pick some people from the thrillers for fantasy. Unfortunately, only play one game in the first week, but it did see Tabot drummonds coming back on. Yes, that's a that's a very big piece. He could be up there for defenseman of the year probably early on. Let's talk about that scheduling for a second because I always find that rather unique. We used to start man at the weekend after Labor Day. We would say you guys can start now, and I remember one year we started on like September seventh or something like that, and then we've kind of pushed it back and pushed it back. I remember last year it was kind of a selfish reason for me to push it after September twelve when I got married. So, but the guys all were in favor of it, right. But I really guy there lie cuz yeah, I get it. I bring it up because, like it's interesting because we're obviously starting the season this year on the seventeen, but when you look at the schedules, like there's no eh LP games in the seventeen, right, and like if we if the first showcase is September thirty through October three, which is an EHL and ehlp showcase. It's a joint showcase. There's three of them the that one, the November showcase in Haverl and the January showcase and Exeter. Those are your joint showcases. In October the Wallpole showcase, December the NEWINGTON showcase. Those are just ehl with a few EH LP teams sprinkled in. But back to that first showcase. If you start to see your season or your first showcase on September thirty, how many games do you want to play before them? Question, question for the crew, like I would think you. I mean you're going the way. You could want busy...

...because then you'd have more like practice and you feel like you're more warped up for a tournament. But then at the same time you could also do not want as many games because you don't want to feel like you're tired going into like a big weekend like that. I mean every every team in the EH shell at the Worcester showcase is playing three games and I knew I'd get one call. Here we go, Adam, Hey, yeah, that's an interesting point. I mean, so everyone knows we didn't have showcases last year, right. That's the other part of this that comes in. That's a big element that I would say that a lot of these coaches on all of us, right. I mean broadcasters, league staff, coaches, players. We didn't go through that last year. And the showcases are a different piast. Ask Cris Sorella is. Records not so great all time and showcases they're different. But in all seriousness they're different. Right. It's to twenty five minute periods. You get that one er mission with the one ice cut. You're playing multiple games in a row. A lot of these teams usually don't play two three days in a row. So I don't know hlp teams at the first showcase as a number of them playing four games to see you. So I mean the HLP. We do allow for teams to play twice in one day if they are showcase style. To twenty five and a half, like you said, ehl, we stick to this strictly one per day. I mean, I know for US forty eight games and four days. I told you I got I signed my hockey TV contract the other day. I'm doing thirteen four days. So bring me a pillow. Booting like let's call a baby. Let's go energy drinks, oh, bio steal. Last we got to look at those plugs right. Actually, it doesn't have like the energy supplements in it, but it helps me feel energized. Maybe it'sess mentally right. I believe you know the amino acids deal. Those actually do have some like energy reeling. Quite. Yes, okay, I believe you. There's there's just no stimulants in it. There's no caffeine, there's no largeny and that kind of stuff that gives you, you know, real but what does it does? It have the electrolytes, though. Yeah, well, it's a hydration formula. Yeah, yeah, it has all the good stuff. It just doesn't have the sugar like the gator raids and the power raids and that kind of stuff. So this is like a real hydration and health tricks delice. Well, like I noticed it last year with the eighty seven EHLP team. Every time they went to a showcase I had to move them further down the power I thinks afterwards you may have noticed that to Anthony because they struggled in showcase. Well, yeah, you want to know why? Because you schedule them to play a game right after. They have to make a four hour bus drive Boston to hear they you you nail this, Neil. No, no, episode there's one. There's one. I remember we went to Chelmsford, right and the the seven S P team had two games that day. The the first one right off the boss had to go play against the Boston junior rangers. Eight one loss. Then that's later later that night, thanks to the open I can hear Maddie. Care to now? Oh my God, wait, later, later that night they played against New Hampshire Avalanche, the other best p team, and it was a one game. He d sevens took him into overtime. So get the these. What point? I don't know. So once, once the eighty seven's were able to get rest, they were able to go toe to toe with the New Hampshire Avalanche. Oh team that was very comparable to the Boston junior rangers. So, you know, you hate to make excuses. Boy, their legs were like Spaghetti. But I think, I think it's about me. We're not just the EED sevens boy team Maryland, Philadelphia, where you have to make these drives all the way up to these New England states and if you're playing right off the bat you're kind of had a disadvantage against teams like the Boston Junior Rangers. For the New Hampshire Avalanche or it's a twenty five minute drive right to the arena and you're ready to go. I have to defend myself now, right so I get a chance to unless you want to bring some showcases down to Jersey shore arena or ice skating complex? Was that a Ford is yours? That was at a plug giving to you by mad and Adam. No, I'man. I'm personally I love to see a showcase in one of those arenas. It me too. First off, the the challenge of scheduling, to defend myself, is finding the balance for when you have to play two games in one day, obviously because you have to have enough time in between, finding a balance for a teams like Maryland to get there right. But the biggest selling point that whenever I go on the road with this to to present for the League, unreal power point that Justin made to will have to figure out a way to get that one out there. But there's a map that I always show of our footprint and I have to I always point out that what's crazy about the sport of hockey, and and particular college hockey, is they're trying to grow it across the country. But yess why? You see teams like Arizona state come on, coming a round and stuff...

...like that, and those teams are actually getting better. But College hockey still, whether it's Division One, two or three, is predominantly a northeast sports still, and we're fortunate that crazy stat. Seventy percent of college hockey programs combine do one, D two, d three. Most of our kids go d two, d three. Everyone knows that. But seventy percent of Division One, two and three hockey schools fall in our footprint, right inside the maps. Seventy percent, but but the but the higher majority of those, are in the state of Massachusetts. Look at just mass on this and its own masses loaded with hockey and it is you can't put much more into the state, right. But that's why the showcases have stayed up here, because you see the most colleges like that. It's why in a four days span in October we play three college teams. Right. So I would wills. I will say you've done a great job. The hat you'R weere of the CCM showcase, right. That's all the way out in Colorado. Look at the two goalies from Connecticut. They're both from Colorado. Yes, notice that yes, we're by WARROWITZ and Mr Junkin are both from Colorado. Yes, I mean my favorite question on the road is where is the Eastern Hockey League located? And I have to be polite, right, I can't just say question of where's the headquarters of my house? Where is it located? I was like, it's up north. It's in the northeast but, like I said, to Hampshire, because it's in the name easterns. It's the first name in there, right, like England patriots. But people I what I say are right. The funniest thing I always get stuck on is what would you call the further furthest most? I'm going to totally tongue twisted here. How what's the northernmost part of our league? Vermont. The wolves are Maine. Vermont, right, e Vermont, more than me actually up there. That's right next to Canada. Yes, right, but like, obviously, being from Maine first time everyone, it took me a lot. Yeah, okay, hold on, whoever you are, almost a half hour and and I finally said I'm from me and okay, let's just make that clear. But the commission people, people don't realize how big Maine is. But our team in Maine is not that far into the state, which is what I saw. They rolling out to everyone. They're all the southern border. Would tell they're bitter for there and bitter for their there's just an hour in right. But the funniest question ever was does the team main have electricity? I was like no, they actually played glow in the dog hockey there. What's like? Like, like what? Yeah, there, that's the the main amish eclipse that just sit there. Someone has to go outside and like. But you have to like sad. The sad thing is I've heard comments like that for to the like there's there's like nothing in New England, like there's nothing to do up there. It's just like farm my end and there's nothing to do. Like no there. That's a lotunds with things to do. Like the Farms are nice too, but like they're there's like developed cities. I've listen a few of them. I've gone to quite a few of them. There's just develope of colleges things. I was gonna say all the three of us and even Justin I guess Anthony's anither one. You've only lived in New Jersey, New York area, for your life, Anthony. Yeah, New Jersey, okay, but Justin you've lived up in mass for a while, like all four of us can attest. There's a lot up here and it's changed a lot over the years too. So these are the questions I get in the offseason. Right, but it's not the offseason anymore. Maybe it's not the offseason anymore. As you said on the group tax, Jeff, it's time to put the golf clubs away. Almost almost. I'll get a few fall around. More rounds I'll go off. I have to get I have one scheduled. Maybe I can sneak out to a one with you. Yes, we we've got to make that. I still didn't get to do it this summer. I have one schedule on the twenty two, I guess, me the sixty four, which means I have to make six other rounds happen before the year ends to tie last year's total, which Vicky did say, like why does it even matter? And I said I like symmetry, as you know, Jeff. Yeah, I got seventy last year. I have to get seventy this year. It'since. That's simple. That's the tire be broken. Records are made to be broken, so it's gotta be one of the speaking of symmetry, not that I think any of our lineups are very symmetrical. This week let's get to the favorite section of the podcast, the ECREW fantasy challenge. It's time for the e grew fantasy challenge, and the ecrew fantasy challenge is presented by file steel. These four drink of the AHL. Use the Promo Code e show. That's es how for twenty five percent off when you check out at Bile steelcom. I can go in depth now as to why. I am just rat dult. Obviously I picked last because I won last year. Humble Bragg Jeff one the year before, though, so we had lauren pick first and Anthony, then jeff den myself. As the year progresses, whoever performs the worst and a certain week will go first the next week. So you could perform the worst but still be in first place. So it's kind of that's what why we balance things out. But like every foward I had circled, you guys took like yes, we did our homework, commission yeah, that's took like a couple of hours.

You kept it did one's on the clock. Lauren is doing. I know I'm trying to get through like plus guys to see which ones I want and actually honestly feel like there's this is interesting. This is the first time, like I said, I've been calling games. Is Two thousand and fourteen we have. This is a credit to the league. We just war. We're talking about it. We've got a lot of guys committed. There's a lot of fresh faces in this league this year. Not a lot of returners at all, which makes fantasy very hard, because then love all of our coaches. But you go through and you're like, you know, a rookie kid, he goes out, makes one mistake, he's probably going to get set for the next ten minutes. You can not play the rest of the period. So we were sifted through Ross's and we were like, these are some young teams, these are some guys we've never seen before. So how do we do this? Yeah, I don't never had like so many cockey taps open like ever. I was like, that's US referencing so many different rosters. I was constantly on elite prospects like it was quite a time. Well, well, Jefferson, just address that point you made. With so many fresh faces and because of the covid season. In the two thousand and two, two thousand and twenty one season, every team was loaded with two thousand birth years and I remember Adam Whoy, the eighty seven coach, saying at point planked to one of the players that right now colleges are that season. Colleges are only looking to commit two thousand birth years. Yeah, so they've all aged out. So now you have so many kids moving in from the EHLP or from other leagues coming in. So naturally that's why we're going to see so many fresh faces this year and it's a easy we will spread the love on fantasy like we always do. But in week one, Oh, right, that we have to set the format this year. I Know Justin is like wants the time in here, but he's not going to because he thinks I change the rules of thousand times last year. The last year had did la voice. That gotta because it was just of als. It was so unique the year and the Games are changing so much. And then we didn't make a rule that you can't pick ten Boston junior rangers like like Brittany. They had who scored thousand goals. So we had to change things around, but the format is the format this year. Okay, like this is on record. Every week we're picking a Ford a d a goalie and, as Jeff and I love to use, I utility. The utility has to be a Ford Er do you cannot be a cool spillery knife. So four times three. You show quick math. That's twelve people or twelve guys right. So sorry, four times for I already messed it up. Sixteen her he messed it up three. Job. There are three selections of the sixteen made by US combined that are new to the ehl this year. The other thirteen are all returning players. Once we have a chance to see some more games, I think that that will that number will start to even itself out. But obviously the trust that we have right now is in guys that we've seen before. So the the part that got me most rattled as we begin to look into Lauren's team, yes, like like this was my guy last year. Jeff was EAGANT spens my guy. We said, Corydonta used to be your nephew. You can smit kind of like pass the torture him. He's like your new nephew. Yeah, like he was my I he was the reason I want fantasy. Zact Simon was like the second reason, because it was the first reason, Zacho for going to sex. I'm Lauren picked. You can sment week one? Yeah, so I probably. You probably wouldn't. To be fair, he probably would not have made it past Anthony and then Jeff to get to me. Definitely, but I was trying to like stay like quiet about it, like and not mention the fact that he was coming back to anyone because, like I thought, maybe I'll get lucky, like the numbers are just stupid. Of what he did last year, though, then he was huge a playoffs to so I mean he's coming in hot and I know it is months ago, but everyone remembers that from the postseason. I'm sure you can does too, and he wants to pick up where he left off. So a job well done by our new young lady, Lawrence Smith, on picking Egan. That's a good thick. Sorry, no, I was. That was the most crushed I've been at the start fantasy. I think we could all feel it when you said that text. It said and deal, you're on the clock from Laura that he was like in everyone. I had circled this, but pick. So give me a little bit of time. Really, whoops, in a five games stretched down this like the final stretch of the season last year, he had fourteen points and three game winners, right, and what wor game winners? Extra points, and they and there were game winners against the avalanche, right, like I'm sure Chris are Ella saw. He can come back. Let me count the game winners against the avalanche. I'll last you on how many were against Bobli to, who's coming back to the ABS. He had four game winning goals against the avalanche last year. Like it doesn't play the avalanche this...

...weekend, thankfully for Chris. Whore do they play this weekend? There's so many games at my head spins. I think they played May and right mns playing man, I believe you. I got too many tabs open, Lauren. So it's a lot. This is a lot to look through. Yep, vto Maine, September eighteen, Saturday night, seven PM at letty arena. See, and they play on Saturday and Sunday and then next Wednesday against the warriors. The fantasy week goes from podcast to podcast, remember, so we drop this on Thursday all games from Thursday to next Wednesday counts. So her forward is Egan Schmidt, and will let you go with the rest, your defense, goalie and utility. Yeah, I gotta had to start off with the will fromont love over there. But for my Defenseman, I went more for new him sure, and I took Thomas Dempsey from the avalanche, so hopefully that'll be a good choice. And My goaltender, we mentioned earlier in the podcast. Everyone was super excited to hear his name because none of us knew how to pronounce that. I chose Daniel Noirz from a rough riders and seems like he might be a little bit super pick. Some people were kind of questioning my choice there, but I'm sticking by it. I'm hoping to see him do some good stuff this weekend. And for my utility, I know this one father neil as well. I've chose column Bella, also from the rough riders, so great pick. I think I have a pretty solid group right here. A lot of people were questioning about that goaltender block. I'm sticking by him, but they have three games, as we mentioned, against Maryland. Maybe they go on one because they have three goalies. A lot of teams like to do that early on, is kind of see what every goalie has to offer. I know the wizards do that in particular. Anthony, I'm not jealous of the fact that you'll have a rough riders game here soon and you're going to have to say Lauren, say it again. There is Daniel, know are with you're gonna have to say that. It's over you time over again. I mean Jeff and I in the finals, I think we pronounced to Jacomo, DJ Jobe a Jacomo. I think we pronounced it's seven different ways in one game, I think, and I always like apologize it because I just could not get get it straight. reever that like Yep, and I heard you say and then I was like, all right, Yep, might maybe that needs to be the thing you incorporate next year. I've seen the hurricanes do it a couple times. They do they literally they have a link somewhere on their website where they have like a whole front siation guide and they go up to each guy and take an audio clip of them all saying their name a couple different times, just like that, so people know how to say it. It's a little bit of work. But like might help you down the road. You know what? I would love that. I mean, here's what all say when it comes to interest, quote unquote, interesting names. At least. One thing I've noticed as a broadcaster doing play by play is that when there's a tough name like that, you asked the player how to pronounce the name and you get it right, you almost kind of want to say, as if you're kind of flexing, that you do know how to pronounce it. I know from experience. There was the the Wolkspart Squirt Knights, and they're still a lot of her took it out the tip of my tongue. Back, Lad Hodge, you mede shadows. There's also asmundas, vulture nitis. He was also on the team. Oh yeah, ever Minis Arka Panko, and this is what Johnny Jackson was still on the the nights before he came to the s and I remember talking with his father, flyers play by play, Jim Jackson, and he was asking me how to say lazold, Jim, it's last name, and he was mispronouncing it and I was like, Jim, it's okay, like let the expert take care of me, ha ha. The wars brought the Jim Jackson and it's white. Bernie's awesome to Bernie always their whole family, you know John, Johnny's a great Katio, d the The sister and just. They're all super nice. I've nothing but nice things to say about the the Jackson family. You got it out so fast that I was like trying to pull up the tab because we were going to try lot of Lauren got it right twice in a row. That other name that I don't even know it right now. I know she just said it a second ago, but as gonna knock her back down and pull up this name for her to try and pronounce. That's the one that he just said. I don't know why this is easier than on the back got. Does this larn? It says the like Arc. Looks like the SUNL so I think. I think that year in the fut what year was Wilkesbury in finest? Two Thousand and eighteen, nineteen twenty nine. It was the last one. Yeah, yeah, two thousand and twenty I think. Jeff and I called Him Zach. Oh all that. Oh, yeah, if we didn't have a chance to to get it out as fast did, he was he ever in the starting lineup, though? Jeff, no, thank good. So I know you have. I know you have to do like syllables right when you do the PA, Yep, like you like. Why do you break that one up? The Bell? Yeah, that'd be a lot. That'll be a long one. Well, ZAC want to come back in the league, so...

...we can do it. Let's go. I remember. I remember telling him and Os Moondes. I said, whatever you to do, just please don't go on a two on one or two on a rush and just past the pluck back and forth to each other. Oh, because, yeah, because I also I just take a simple water halfway through LARN to. Just were saying, yes, I were just going to call. What do we say? Our Goalie, Dan, I think, was really good going Dan. So we going to say his last name. But well, so, Warrowitz, while I brated Lauren with you're on the Clock Multiple Times yesterday, I got you back for that yesterday. It you did. I was like, all right, if she picks Egan Spit, we're gonna go with Colin Bella. If she picks Colin Bella, we're going to go with the floor. At that Anthony took Anthony Who's that guy? That is Bobby Guyre of team Maryland. Yeah, Bobby Guyer was one of the leading scores for team Maryland. He put up sixteen goals and twenty assists. So thirty six points in thirty eight Games was not an age out. So he is ready to recabock for or one more year with team Maryland and I guess I'll go to with the the rest of the picks. Yeah. So for for defense, also, just one more thing I actually want to add. So Neil was bugging me asked me if I was just going to pick eighty seven s guys the the the entire season. I'm probably. I'm probably going to hear it from Matt Adam and the the rest of the team for not picking any eighty sevens guys this week, but I also want to try to, I guess, gain some some credibility across the League where I'm just not relying on my own guys, where I get to pick guys from other teams and also the New England conference and not just the the players that I see on a regular basis. So for defense, I went back to the New England conference with the Vermont lumberjacks I'm going with Aaron Damron and he put up twenty seven points in thirty three games with the lumberjacks peace squad and he's gonna make that jump to the EHL, so I think that he's a potential rookie that can really shine through. For goaltender, I'm going with Ronan Obli and I had breath the side of relief when Nell said that he won't be facing Egan Schmidt this week. So that will make my pick a little better. And for the utility I think I'm cheating with this one. I'm going for a player who was with the sevens and that is at Anthony Tivers of the Connecticut rough riders. Yeah, he he put up eighteen points in thirty six games in his first season in the the EHL. He played two seasons for the seven S P team. He pulled the Michigan move one year and I was on the call for that. I mean he's such a fun player to watch. He scored in his first game against the seven s and I remember that. So I think Taveris on New Jersey native, is gonna Solid Utility pick for this week and it's source. That's great. Yeah, I've Adam and Maddie give you a hard time. Just say I did pick an eighty seven. It's not my fallies on the team anymore. That's her formerly. So couple points to point out with Anthony's picks. I do remember vividly a hat trick for Bobby Guyer, which there are now hat trick points. I am so excited about that. All right, I had to get that off by chest Aaron Damnron actually played four seasons of Eh LP with the lumberjacks, which is crazy. But he's from Lebanon, New Hampshire, which, Lauren, I don't even know what that is, but I know it's somewhere near Vermont. It's I think it's if I remember me. I think it's somewhere a little to the south. I think because, like I know I forrey. Should we drive through it when we'd go like when I was at school year H we drive down from my grandparents house up in Burlington. So I think it. I think we drove here at some points. So I want to say it's like either somewhere in the middle of like somewhere towards like the south. I think that's more boost country. Sorry, I just Moose country, heys. He had seventy five points, though as a d throughout those four years and the H LP and I and I remember him from frozen finals weekend. You know, we said his name quite a bit. So that was a very good pick anything. And he's an age out now. He was a captain, so I'm sure the lumberjacks going to look at him as a leader this season. Mobly, I kind of had them circled. It's good if he I would imagine he's playing Sunday against the Rangers. So absolutely little, little bonus point possibility there for Anthony. And then we talked about talked about Anthony Severes, the former eighty seven. So that's that's what Anthony can take it to, Adam and Maddie. So Jeff will get to euro pics now. I will say I did not have your forward circled above my forward, so I felt a little breath come back at into my system. there. All right, buddy, I'm glad. I'm glad I could help you out there make you feel a little bit better, but had to go with the ehlp Most Valuable Player last year, which was Sawyer Worz, and he had forty three...

...points. In Thirty Three Games, twenty two goals, twenty one assists. Almost want us to shy for making you a very happy man with the even symmetry of twenty two and twenty two. But sorry, story, we won't put it against you. So we're going to go with Sawyer as my forward, just like Lauren did. As far as picking somebody that I know, especially Defenseman we got to see last year we had a lot of stay at home John Twitter O type defenseman. Not a lot of guys that we did at the points, but Josh Higgins from the New Hampshire avalanche put up twelve points of thirty five games. Big Apples Guy, not a big goal scorer. He had eleven assists one goal. So we're going to go with we're going to go with Haiggy. And then for my goalie, I'm going with the other rough riders goal tenor. That would be Mr Nicholas Junkin, who is also a Colorado native, just like Mr Dan the WARROWITZ. The Wad wits good. We're gonna be saying the name play a lot. It's it's fun. The WARROWITZ and Junkin. Those are two really good names for goaltenders. To. So so we're going to see. Maybe, like you said, I know coach Lynn Coach Brown are probably gonna want to see both since they're new guys. So maybe each gets one start. And then, for my utility, actually had this kid last year. Could player Lucas back say from the Connecticut ride rough riders. He's a good goal scorer, gets Asist to twelve goals, twenty assists, thirty two points and thirty six games for him. Then he's actually in his third year as a rough rider, e. eighteen points and forty games back in one thousand nine hundred and twenty. So again going with familiarity here week one, because we really don't know a lot of these guys. So let's go. So I went the same kind of route we took clean up. We're two rough riders, so we'll write how that turns out for us. I putty. Well, well, they just cross, we'll get them one in a second. Here I have flubbed up my math, Jeff, so I do have to correct you on one thing. Sawyer was the fourd of the year for you, and be not every pay but by what a great season and what stands out to me as actually he actually got hurt in the first frozen finals game. Remember that, and that was a don't want to say that was the reason, but that was a big that was a big loss for last year. Slumberjacks, a HLP team, was that the day they had two games back to back because they were whole. Second they were all supposed to play two games. That's how wild last year was that we had to make changes in the fly like that, because the lumberjacks played the railers eighty seven. I don't know who they played first, but they lost that game right, and they got beat up. They lost like because I remember Jack was crossing guys. I was like he's hurt, he's hurt. He's lawyer, who was our tightest. I think that was a game against the evens. Yes, so they played them first of all and then they played the railers second and the railers beat them also, and we had an emergency meeting because the railers and sevens were watching the championship game and we were going to make them play a game before that to figure out who had last change. The next day, ever, we we had that meeting on the fly. You didn't really expect that. The frozen finals for all that are wondering. This year that is not a possibility. We're bringing we're bringing six teams from the EHL and for from the EHLP. So so love it. So, as I speak to the Voice of God, let's see types in the chat there running. The whole NHL season at the frozen finals will have never been as jam packed as they will be this year. But that's all we're talking about, frozen finals for now, because that is months away. That is months away from now. To get to my picks, and I hope Marie is listening, because everybody else picked rough riders and I'm all aboard the team. Marilands train this week. Okay, I know I wasn't in March, but I am now, and John Werber is my goalie. In talking to Josh Fusco, who he is going to get at least one, maybe two starts in that series against the rough riders. The game that I am slightly nervous about is next Wednesday when he faces the eighty seven S, but we'll get to that game after we get to the first three games done. Coach Flusco did say to me that he feels he's as strong a goaltender as he's ever had in Maryland and compared him to the best goal he ever had in Wilkes, Barrey, Thomas, Walmas Walker. I'm going on Walker, going there in goal this week in full. At forward. The wolves are going to give me a hard time because I'm going to say that he was a great pick. He was my fourth option, but he has a great option. Yeah, it was kind of sad when I saw some was like, oh oops, he actually was on our all time Eh l P to ehl lineup. WHO's one of the few guys that we selected that is coming up to play, or actually camp last year to play in the EH shell sats still active, and that's ricards Joe Lenski's. I am fired up about having him on my lone up this week. He is dynamite. I mean it's will have to see how it compares to when he played with Sergey and e's some off and Donny Feldman last...

...year, because that blindlist was kind of on another level and obviously a need. Some off and feldman are both aged out into college now, but I feel pretty good about that selection at forward this week. On defense, I was on this train for a while last year. Another defense of defense men that doesn't put up a ton of points, but I love the way this kid plays. He's steady. He's wearing the sea this year for the SEACO Spartans, and that's Michael O'Brien. And then my utility Anthony, kind of mentioned this earlier. The majority of last year's commitments were all agel players. It's kind of was just a nature of the season that we were in. But one of the few nonagel players that did get committed was tyler ebling from the protect junior ducks, who's already set to go to the Milwaukee School of Engineering. And then talking to Terry Watt a little bit this offseason, Tyler's in to play forward and defense just like he did last year. So Hey, I said, I said the Terry go hey, week one, if he has a shift on forward, just keep him out there. Next shift defense. He's not to he's not tired. He's not tired, no rest. So he was a kyle favorite last year. I remember abably was douth Kyle favorite. It was definitely quack quack. So don't just to recap our picks so you hear them all once. Lawrence team is Egan Schmidt Thomas Dempsey, Daniel the warrowits. They say, right, you did this the actually, so you were getting it. Everyone to say it five times before better and Colin Bella, Anthony's team, bobby guy or Aaron Damon, Ronan mobili and Anthony Tavara's chef team. Saw You're wor saying Josh Hagan's, Nicholas Junkin and Lucas back say my team or cards j Lenski's, Michael O'Brian John Warber and Tyler ebling. Not as tough group of names of some of the all time monest that we had this offseason. Jeff Michael Briant. That's a beauty, easy and out. Thank you. He'll Neil, you got in a war whis. Right, boy, you got Anthony's name wrong. His mother actually spoke to me one time when we're so in Middletown, and she said it was to Veris, not to Varus. I think Johnny, it's a bear to Barrows does the same thing. Right. Anthony is now come apt me twice the first episode. All right then, but hey, when we wanted baby, when she listens to this episode, Anthony, you'll get the messages. That says. Thank you for pronouncing it correctly. That's easiest. Make it look good. That's all. Yes, that does it for fantasy. Let's get to what to watch for before we wrap things up. Here's what to watch for this week in the east. Show. What to watch for is presented by hockey TV, the official streaming platform for your ehl and EHLP action to the two twenty one, two thousand twenty two season. And we tease this game earlier. Aud You say the first game to watch for has to be that Rangers Avalanche Game. which did they actually play to start last year? Jeff, they did. That's what we were talking about. They that was the shootout game. Yes, that was a shootout. They were they were allowed to cross the border at that time. That was real quick, though, TACs layers, that feels like so long ago right, like like literally so long ago. I'm trying to go back and find that box score right now. We were good like ten feet away from each other. Called the game. Everyone was messed up. We're all just kind of like hey, it was like, Dude, I've seen you in so long. That's it going Alreadier, I thought. A for three shootout win for the avalanche. Yeah, can you name the goaltenders that played in that? George Mcmichael? Now, no, it wasn't Mobili either. Nope, it was Chris always does this to he brings guys in real quick for like a hot for five games. It's like, nope, out, don't like it. And Miller wasn't the start on the ranger side. Nope, no, Nathan Miller. HMM, all those the other kid, they're broken. McDonald. Yes, that's one. Broome McDonald was one and reminds me that he actually we're getting a new frozen finals champions signed this year, because the last one was like five years old, and I is heaven remember we could not fit in the car, like there was no way that was in the fit back in the car. But and Brogo was like can I have this teas and I was like, Yep, sure, please do it. You're doing us a favor by taking this away from us. This other goal we have started than that for the avalanche actually finished the season with team Maryland. Bobby mccloskey. Nope, Oliver Quinn, Oliver Quid, wow, feels like forever. A Go was the wolf to before, before the avalanche was a wolf. Yes, the game winner in that shootout was Corey Tuminus like like. It feels like forever I go, but maybe a tyler Arago is going to be calling that game, I believe on Sunday. For me is and maybe...

...he'll get another shoot up. As I mentioned, it's kind of a unique opening weekend schedule. I'm not sure how they got Brett try to agree with it, but it's rangers versus Spartans on opening day, avalanche versus Spartans on the second day, avalanche versus Rangers on the third day. All great matchups throughout that opening weekend. We have a couple games in the middle of next week, like Tuesday there there's a main versus railers game and then Wednesday there's actually an e seven team Maryland game which is another rematch up, a playoff matchup. So another interesting game to watch, I think. I think the eighty seven swept that series as well. Flipping over to the EHLP, as I mentioned, opening day on seventeen is just EA SHELL ACTION EH L P. The first puck drop is wolves warriors at three o'clock on Saturday and then Saturday night thinks that. I think that's your first call right, Anthony Sevens versus little flyers. Yep, and the the people. The P team plays first, yes, and on see our team place plays after the both against a little fires. Yep, he woads. He took us. It took US already, Jeff. It took US almost fifty five minutes to get to our first alo name drop. He loads. Help me with my yes, it's right. He's. I'll give you a nickname too, our like he gave me for Meek Mills last year. That was a great woman. Then he's. He sent me. I got to Whar. I'm gonna have to wear that next episode. The little flyers first, everyone shirt. He'll send you some swag if you for a little fires. Name up there. He we will start breaking out the swag next week for sure, and hope to get more from the other coaches. Yes, said it to us. Will wear. We're going to post these. So the EH L P, just like the EHL, has an athalanche rangers matchup next Wednesday as well. It's not the same day as when the the previous one is taken place in the EHL on Sunday, but another seven games for the EH LP throughout the week. A full schedule for the EH Shell, so we finally get a chance to play hockey again. I know that what's exciting for a lot of our teams is at least early on, they're playing teams that they didn't get a chance to play against last year, where we got forced into playing kind of a very structured schedule because of the quarantine, not quarantine, the covid restrictions and guidelines that were put in place. So hopefully that means seeing some fresh new faces for the first time in a while. Will be good for all of these guys. As Anthony mentioned at the beginning of this segment, you can catch every game live on hockey TV. I think they actually just came out with another promo. They had their earlier bird special. Now they have another one out that blanking on the name of but you can save fifty on an all access passed as well. So jump on that right away, because the sooner you you you get on that, the more you can save. Obviously, and every single one of our games is on is on hockey TV. So great first episode, Guys. Will we'll talk to you next week. Sounds good. Meal, Lauren. Anthony Justin Oz behind the curtain. Should we see you guys should we end of the way? We always do jump. That's said, will you buy?
