Team of the Week (87’s) | Episode 87

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

On this week's episode of the #EShow we cross off the final Team of the Week feature of the offseason, as we highlight the New Jersey 87's. This fall marks the 5th year for a program that started at just the EHLP level back in 2017. Throughout their time in the league, the 87's have built an annual contender at both levels, EHL and EHLP. The hard work came to fruition with each club advancing to the Frozen Finals this past March, capped off by a Championship Sunday that Adam Houli and Matthew Kiernan will never forget, as they claimed their first EHLP title. The last Team of the Week feature begins by taking a look back with Houli (1:22), and ends with an all-time lineup as good as any the #ECrew has constructed to date (21:31).

What's up, my name is Ne Ravin, and this is episode numbereighty, seven of the e show and on this week's episode we cross off the finalteam of the weak feature of the off season. As we highlight the New Jersey, eighty seven, this fall march, the fifth year for a program that startedthat just the EH LP level back in two thousand and seventeen throughout theirtime in the league. The t sevens have built an annual contender at bothlevels: Eh, L and EH LP. The hard work can do fruition with each cup, advancing the frozen fone. This past march, capped off by a championshipSunday that Adam holy and Matthew Carnon will never forget, as they claimtheir first EH L P title. The last team of the weak feature begins by taking alook back with holy and ends with all time lot up as good as any the ECHO hascreated to date, m joy now by Adam Hole, the head coachand Gentle Manager of the New Jersey, eighty seven how's it going at him. Anil des Raping me on, but thanks forcoming back on and let's jump right into it coming up this year. This isalready season number five for your program. Does it feel like seasonnumber? Five? No, no! It doesn't. Sometimes it does.Sometimes it doesn't. But as we talk right now, it's crazy to think we'vebeen in the league now for five years. You know we're almost at that ten yearmark, so no it doesn't feel like it, but at the Times it definitely feelslong, but every year you get excited around this time. Knowing you got camparound the corner, you know and you get back into theswing in things and get them ready for another year. So when we take the folksat home for the timeline of what you've been through your first season, youwere in jest to e hlp, two thousand and seventeen eighteen year number two. Youhad both levels that was your first year in the Ehel two S and a eighteennineteen. Of course he won't touch too much on it, but it ended in somedisappointment for your program and two thousand a D. Nineteen and twenty youcome back. You were able to actually play one ELP playoff game before covilreally hid and all the shutdowns happened, and then this past seasonwe're able to play everything all the way through both of your teams made itto the frozen funnels. Did it feel like a huge weight off your shoulders yeah?I think I think, for the club as a whole just being able to finally finisha year. Obviously, the year we got illuminated early certainly hurt, andwe wanted. We made it a goal to make sure we wanted to get our bolt teams tothe frozen finals and to be able to do it was you know it was certainly arelief, but now I think it just garners even more fire and even more gasolene to that farto want to get there and continue to do well in that tournament. But itdefinitely was a relief but, like we've always talked about, you have to get itwrong before you get it right and now we know you know what to look for andwhat to do and prepare for even a better year ahead, and as you look backon those frozen bosom last year, I'm going to ask this question in a verybroad perspective, to hear what you have to say where the frozen finals, what you expected in the beat y? Yes, and no it you never know untilyou're there. I think you know I give Kudos to you, know Chris, and you knowhim being there. So often when we got there, I was kind of you know. We werefeeling ourselves out a little bit right, understanding what we wanted todo and how the week was going to go. You prepare mentally, but you don'tknow until you get that right and that's what I mentioned earlier. Youknow having to get it wrong before we...

...get it right now. I think we feelcomfortable if we do get the opportunity to be there again. We knowwhat to expect how to go about it and be prepared in the right way for thatweek. So it was an awesome event, but having to do it getting under our belt. Now we look for the future to continue what we do. So, let's dive into eachside of the program in particular here. FIRST FOR THE EH L regular seasonchampions, but the one thing that you said to me with the way that all oflast year played itself out. You knew no matter what once you won the regularseason title you were automatically going to the finals. This is the wit ofthe season played out and the at large bed that we had, but you always said wewant to make it the right way. What did that mean to you in your program? Yeah? I think it was everything right. We, as you said, we all ultimately knew we were going to be in that frozenfinals, but no one has done it yet when in the regular season, then then, whenin the frozen final to us, that was something special. We don't. We had aspecial group and we did have a special group to do it, but for us we wanted togo about it the same way. Do it the right way and again it's not that it'sthe wrong way when you get there, but I did, but we wanted to go through andshow that we're here for a reason- and this is why we are here, so it wasspecial for us to go through that playoffs and listen. The playoffs gottight credit to Maryland and credit to the little fliers and mark they playedus really. Well, you know, and that's what made the the year difficult isplaying the team so many times and then getting to that playoffs and it's thebest o three anything can happen so it was. It was certainly a relief for usto do that and get to that final point, and then you get there with the EHELteam. One of my favorite parts about around Robin is it's never over untilit's over and all four teams end up having a chance to make it to thechampionship game. On that last day you played, and arguably probably the mostentertaining game of the week against the lumber jacks on. There was a momentin that game where there could have been a potential double goalie pull andthat you and James Mosso from the lumber jacks look at each other andkind of had a word back and forth what was said in that moment, you can kind of put it together. Whatyou just said: Do we both go pull and go from it? Part of the reason again, you know I thought we were in a better situation. We, you know he needed at that point.Get tied of. We were up liable and I didn't want to take away from thequality in the process that the other teams are doing. You know, I think, when one team pullsa goal, it's juste and it's an advantage. I just felt like you know, for us at that point. If I already do it, I didn't want to take away fromanything in that given moment es. I kind of give give me the feel free todo. It will certainly help it. Her only want you to do it, but we're going tohold off here and try to try to do it and go get the next cool, no matter. You know what the situation may be. It felt like an awkward pause at thatmoment in the rank, and obviously it didn't happen, but you went on to winthat game and I meant that every single one of the four teams- The phonos, wanta game. What does that say about the overall competition level of the League? Yeah, I think that was the biggestthing, the parody and that prosen finals was tremendous. You know, but anyou'll hear it a lot right. They open in the room in the north of the northand the south is the south, but when we got to the frozen finals, Ithink we really showed what south is a d and the style. Howcan you play? I think, analytically, if you were to look at those reports, youknow, I think we come out on the on the good side and most of those games there. So from that standpoint it was more of us, letting you know. The the guys inthe north know that the south isn't just the south and we play really goodbrand a hockey down here, and then it just showed in that week that you knowevery goal was a goal game every goal, every game kind of swung on a onemoment or another, and that's just really good hockey, really good for theweek when you have a frozen finals, be so close and so entertaining till theend. I know we were there till the end watching and just being a part of it,because we wanted to see what happened so just really speaks to the volumes ofhow close this league is how good the...

...hockey is, especially in the frozenfinals when you have the best four teams there. I remember you said thatyou were there. I couldn't see where you were, but then Jeff and I actuallysaw you like standing in the in this staircase- not sure if you were hiding, but you were definitely washing there till the finish, but obviously thefrozen finals play itself felt. We've mentioned this podcast before you andMac Carnon or co owners and Co coaches and last year it was just youtube withthe EH and the EH LP team. The EH l PM arrived the night that your easelseason ended and then the next day they got into their round robin and thenultimately went on to win the championship. How do you as a coach, find a way to close the page on one team and focus primarily on that hlpTam? Basically, at the step of a finger, yeah yeah, that's a good question. Youknow. For us it was difficult in a sense because the HL team, you know wehad a lot of our players who had been los two years three years, so it was avery close team. It was very hard to know that the season was coming to anend, but at the end of the day you knew you laid everything out on the line. You knew you did everything in your power to get to the weekend and thenjust didn't fall in your favor and I'll be honest. I think that the premierguys coming in that night helped help alleviate the morning process for theHL. You know they come in smiles on their face excited. You know therethey're pretty jacked up to get going in their weekend, so it re energize ayou to say you know what we still have a chance here to make history as aprogram and like we talk about the premier guys all year you knew theirbest hockey was still ahead of them and we dought this weekend. They can reallyput it together and it just happened by chance that we really did it. You knowwe put our best hockey in that weekend and, and we came out victors, did italmost feel fitting that your first championship came with at the levelthat you had started with way back in two thousand and seventeen eighteenyeah? I think you know you know, but being mad, we've always talked aboutdoing it. The right way we started in the premier, because we wanted to do itthe right way we didn't want to just say we can do something and hope andpray that we could do it. We wanted to show that we can be a good team in thepremiere and make the next stept up to the Glo to get that first championshipin our program, history at our premier team, especially as a group of ownerswho always talk about doing it, the right way, starting in the premier anddoing it the right way. I think it just it was the icing on top. It was acherry on top for us to do that, and that was where we started. That's howwe got connected. That's how the it seven started was in the premiere, sothat one was certainly a very special day. Gruss, that's on day with thetrophy and what I like about you guys. The most is that you just don't getcomplacent. You get to the offseason you adding eighteen ou program. Wherewas the thought process behind that pod? Just to continue to do what we doand were very passionate here about what we do? We love what we do and wewant to just continue that we want to give more opportunities to players tohave a chance to play hockey at the highest level, and our next thoughtprocess was adding an eighteen program to bring more into our program. We'vedone a really good job of success in premier to go, and we thought we can doit even better by adding eighteens and the goals from this point on or tocontinue to add we're looking at next year from the sixteens on down. So weare looking at this as a full run operation with the t sevens and justdoing it and making our our stamp on it the right way and to start from the topdown to the bottom, and you keep saying we throughout that answer, and I'vepointed out you obviously co owners together, but you make it a point to UStalk about the team and it's not the players, but all this staff that youhave working with you guys. Do you touch on just some of those individualsthat make your program so whole yeah? I certainly appreciate yourecognizing the wee part because it obviously it's just not me and Maddie. You know we added about four or five to our staff, coaching Wise Justin freedwhen we brought back rich Havli W, who was around the rink and really wantedto be a part of it, Jason Deroches, going to help out our eighteen team.SAUCON is going to be our equipment, manager and our game day operations, and then we have where I think it's the best off lights, crew and Anthony andChris Ruso, who really kind of run our...

...game day, audio stuff and and and makesure again. You Know Sam Goddy as our trainer, and he then you know we have Sam thereand then obviously our premier, we passed off to conall. You know he's aguy who can take over a premier program. He comes from the college rank so we'reyou know we're very excited to have him there kind of see where you can takethat program as well. It's a staff Tis, almost ten, eleven twelve guys deep, and you mentioned a couple of names in there that I wanted to bring up becausefor those that have been bang all of attention, this off season, I announcedAnthidia, as our new beat writer for the League, obviously still working foryou guys as well. But what does that mean to your program to have aindividual who's, also kind of taken, a talence to the league level? If youwill yeah and and that's something we alwayspreach, you know that is the goal here as well. You know, obviously we want.We want people who are part of it to move on to greater and better that'swhat we've always talked about our players and the same for our staff sofor Anthony. I know, he's a tremendous asset to us and he's only going to helpour league even more and that's the goal right. We are good team Leagueguys down here and we want to make sure the league continues. A move in theright direction and Anthony is a phenomenal part that he really does hishomework. So super exciting for him. To do that, you know we were very excitedwhen you on when it was announced that he was going to be doing that andmoving soward. So you know we certainly preach what we practice and we makesure that we want our players moving forward and certainly our staff as well, because everything that they do were very appreciative with their effortsand those are the key words there to move on and last year. When you lookback on your hl team, the fourteen comments that you have obviously you're so proud of everysingle one of those kids. But how do you kind of reset and fill those spotsof that are left behind yeah? I think you know it's. We neverlook at it as rebuilding, even though you know I've heard that term thrown around in the League rightnow about us you're down in the south, but you know, for us, we never are in arebuild mode are rebuilt. It is something that we did on our first yearfor our premier team and from this point on you know, we do a really goodjob in making sure we're adding the right pieces were promoting the rightpieces, and it's really more just us kind of finding our team identity inour camp and what style we want to do. I think we average, you know over fivegoals last year. First in the League there will we be the same this year. Wedon't know yet right. That's that's the fun part about campus, finding youridentity. I do know that I do feel that our team is as strong in a depth wisesense, as it's ever been, I'm excited to see some of our new players stepinto some roles and see what they can do. So I'm pretty excited. I know youknow, but you always have that little smirk on your face when you get readyfor training, can't knowing that you have a good team coming in, I need justhonestly. You just can't wait to get started, and maybe this is an easyanswer because of what your hlp Tam was able to accomplish last Yearo winningyour first championship, but is the goal as simple for the Ehel ischampionship or bust? I think from the from from their storepoint: That's how they're going to look at it. I think you know for us it'salways again. We want them to be placed in the college. We want them moving tothe the next pasture for us, but I wouldn't be you know I wouldn't I'd belying. If I didn't tell you that that is our goal and I think it goes alittle bit further. I think when you're, when you're a champion is becauseyou've done it the right way you prepared the right way and if you havehad that preparation, your player is going to be taken care of right. So ifwe find ourselves on that Sunday playing the championship game, I canalmost guarantee that all of our players will have found homes wherethey want to find homes, and it's because of that preparation. So yeah, Ithink for us it is championship or not, but there's some deeper meaning intowhy we think that way, and I think ultimately that's what we're here is.We want our players playing at the NA level and if we do that, we're going tobe finding ourselves playing on my championship on day- and I know I gotto ask you this question during the week, but it was such a whirlwind withhow quickly it all came and went. You...

...got named the coach of the year whilewe're at the frozen finos. Now that some time has passed, how long did ittake for you really set in that? You had won that honor. You know, I don't. Even know if itreally settles in when you win that, obviously to me that's completely doneby you know my staff from my coaches and trainers and things like that to myplayers who perform you just try to make sure that you're leading in theright direction, you're doing it the right way. You know- and you hope that they see itthat way, and then they take care of you and in producing winds and gettingnoticed, and you take over from that. So it was nice to certainly berecognized. But to me again, I think it was a culmination of our organizationbeing recognized. I think that's a bigger thing for me is that when we winawards at the T, seven that are winning awards and the players are just usuallya beneficiary of that it was nice from that standpoint to be recognized andit's accomplishment for what you've done in a short amount of time. Like westarted with this beginning this interview, it doesn't feel like it'sgoing to be season number five, but it got me season number five for you guysso before I bring Jeff and we start to put together this all time lot up forthe T. seven there's been so many good players that have come and gone overthe years is going to be hard to put this one up together, but there's a fewthat I think you and I both know will definitely be on this roster. So I wantto talk about some of those individuals, first and foremost, Tim de Board, whowas a part of your program each of the three years you've been at the EH llevel to see him come all the way through and then get his commitment. What does that mean to you and to Maddie? Yeah I mean that was everything for us.Tim was was a very special human being off the ice and on the ice. He was atremendous asset to everything we did so when he finally was going to school, that he was super excited about and is going to be, a big part of things andwhat they do. That was just a it was. You know, honestly, it's almost a tearymoment because you just really so happy. They deserve everything they got andTim deserve everything that he got. He was. He did everything the right wayand he always led by example. So for us just to see that part kind of come tofruition and and him he commit was was everything and he deserves everything. That's going to come. His way is going to work his butt off in college and itcan be a part of a really good team there and I think they're going to besomething special in the next four years and they got not one but two.Eighty seven coming out their way. That's Lawrence University and theother. Eighty seven is Dante Teremni. When you guys first started recruitinghim, did you in vision, a player that had the potential to win both therookie of the year? One year and then the M vp war the following year. It's something to say: I don't know ifwe can envision because again, knowing what the League could have that he'sgoing to be a guy who wins that award. We knew we had a special player coming.I think we were more shocked and he wasn't talking to more teams and thatguy is excited to get here an here in New Jersey and then the second. Hetakes the ice. You know there's a special player there and then that theyear goes. You could just see D formulating in his first year and thenlast year by the middle of the year, just how dominant he was in his workethic and what he was doing on the ice. You saw something special kind ofhappening that he can make a run at this going rookie of the year and thenmb and again it was just you know. It was so him and everything he did andthat's why that group was so special because we had the right players to doit and they were the right group to do it, and I think that's the the the youknow what keeps people looking forward. Our players like Tim and Dan. They ve,come to our program and have had such great success, but he was a specialspecial human, both on and off the eyes and based off at their age out years. They both be able to come back this season and help you read: Trees, thefrozen finals. The two last players I want to touch on cause can touchsomeone on them all right here where Jack Lane and Trevor Seer. So those aretwo players that began the process with you at the EH l, P level, and thenultimately, things were cut short for them because of the ovid season. Did itfeel like what you guys accomplished this past year was for players likeJack Landtrevor, seer...

...yeah. I think those are those o ouroriginal players, those are or what we call our ogs, but it goes. It goesfurther than that. I think seeing Jack and trevor over my house now and comein to hang out and catch you up when they're home or coming to our office atthe rink sitting here and catching up about it and talking about eighty sevenhockey and talking about players. That's when it comes to really you seethe impact that you hopefully have on these players. You Know Jack and Trevor.Bowl players will reach out to me during the year last year. That watch agame. Ask Me what I think, and you just see the the tremendous relationship bedeveloped off the ice. I think that's the biggest thing so when we hadsuccess and them real feel really happy about it and there there they'rerooting for your success. I mean this year when we told him our opening day. Both of them made a point to come home and come to our opening game here causethey want to be a part of it. So that's when you see the real lasting effort ofbeing in e seven, and why is so important that we have the right people, because it's not just a couple of years of being here, it's beyond that, it'sten fifteen years down the line of being in eighty seven yeah, it's veryspecial for sure what you guys have done in the very sure or amount of time.So I appreciate you coming back on the podcast until your training camp isstarting up here pretty soon and, like I said, you're number five for yourprogram, you're number, four at the EH level and we'll see you in just about amonth at the September. Showcase sounds good, Nel I'll talk to you. ThenI appreciate u having us on today and what you guys be love. This wear aswell, thanks again to Adam holy for coming onthe podcast this week and with that, let's bring in Jeff Mills now and Jeff.As I always say about Adam he's, probably one of the best interviews inthe League. I think I think all the coaches do well getting interviewed, but like he, he eats it up. Man Yeah he does, and he was one of our betterinterviews at frozen finals. I remember too, he just he's a very polished youngman. If you will- and yes he and he's I mean he's young and then he's also gota Peterie, he was a big hockey player himself. You know he goes on a lot ofprofessional maps and stuff and played a lot of different areas, and- and Ithink that goes to show why some of these coaches- that have that you knowprofessional background and stuff, why they can talk a little more and alittle more yet really Maddie Hardin's another one that we will talk and dotoo, though right he's, he's awesome and he's gonna help a background to ina few years when coved is gone, a God gone were like, or is cobike like for five years, we're going to look back at the interviews from theaward show and be like look at US sitting next to each other with mass on,like I remember how tightly were to was this a t on the camera screen to yeah,my God man? It was a little hot wheres lit steady that ate nasty. That roomwas like I was like. Can we get an ice bath for our feet, so we kind of go offa little bit. I remember be like Neal. Do I need to stop for a second? Do yousee sweat dripping down? My forehead of the Cam Right now, but let's put together this eightyseven all time one up. This is the last team, one up that we have to do comingup next week. The final episode of the quote: Unquote off season we're goingto have an all time: EH L lot up and an all time climb the ladder eh LP, the EH L line up. So this is a lot of lot of anger towards hey. Why was it? Idon't? Hey God like that, like that's a tough one, though, like like next e thenext week, episode is going to take us there's no interview, obviously we'regoing to dedicate a half hour to the EH L and a half hour to the climb, thelatter eh lph on the call of talking, because then, after that, the followingweek. That's our season preview like this is coming like that, and then we welcome on Anthony Lawrence. You want us to just hear me and deals poles of tones on this podcasting, where you here are a couple new...

...friendly bases and voices that wereexcited to have. I A bed an anthony onto this program.Well me look back on last week's episode with the Apple Core and tryingto figure out which guys in the EP page play Hlin, didn't the Tis a lot easierman, isis a lot easier. Eighty seven came into the league under the ECHOumbrella, two thousand and seventeen eighteen, just at the hlp level. They've only had three years at the ehls like crazy to think about thatright. They always feel like they've, been around a decade a decade right, but let's start with the guy. They DUB as as m eighty seven Tim de Board, because he was part of each Eh, l, team, eighteen and Nineteen Ouaie teen twentytwo thousand and twenty one the leading score in eighty seven history. When youcombine playoffs with with regular season which actuallypause, we joked about this this year. He didn't get his firstplayoff pointuntil this year. Remember that you so coon hundred and thirty three points inthe regular season didn't get his two playoff points until this post seasonright crazy, but a hundred and twenty total games. A hundred and thirty fivetotal points like just great numbers for deblore heading: It stick up therefor a while. I could yeah it definitely could and because I think about someone,I'm trying to compare him with someone like Logan to Scania, didn't he have ahundred a D. seventy points yeah right in like that with the Lumber Jack. So,like that's nothing. The hundred thirty three points on that. Where does theboard rank on the all time list? I ohayo should ask: Let's see he is not in the top ten sorry theStadio was an almost two hundred. That's that's under this is a this. IsRala Season Plus postseason s? Ok, so I'm sure you know the boards listen tothis right. Now and saying. Can you not talk about my post season like it? Itbothered me too. I okay, but, as I mentioned a three year guymystery eighty seven because he was a part of each of the first three yearsthey had in an hl team and he's going to be teammates with my fantasy boy, Dante, Teramo Dot methis mom and dad he's from California really interesting story. Ibal made itto the T. seven is really good kid. Great parents, not one of those parentsthat were going to miss moving on to the next season and when he gets theLawrence with the board he's going to like. I don't know why you had why youhad so much trouble in the post season. I had nine points and seven post seasonGames is past. I love the playoffs. We overall in eighty six career games in the El. Ahundred and fifteen total points, so the board can say in a minute. Theboard can say all right go back and play one more year. Then try and catchme a this. Is this is nuts what the h seven have donein this short time? I was just looking just quickly on the EP page. They havealmost double digits of guys that average over a point, a game. Appertein, that's been around four years techily three years, so you because I obviouslywe're doing El all time, but we are going to include the hop but look atthat: you've, guys average, nine or ten guys averaging over a point for game. That's yeah wow! So that's they were kind of like a pair. If you will toboard and Teremni. The next pair I want to touch on is Tarantino and JacquelineRight. So de Bord and Teramo played this plate a little bit more of a skillgame. At times. I guess you could say right and and not that ter Terenti noand Jacqueline didn't but they'd beat you up to like, like lane was one ofthe toughest kids we've ever had in this league like period and that one ofthe original tea he's from the original eighty seven. He probably wants to becalled me. Eighty seven right because he was on the original EH L P team. Onthat a sixty points there so tarantino...

...just to sell every one of his numbersin eighty five career games in the HL he had. Ninety eight points is at USstart mouth now for Lane, as Jeff mentioned, Eh l P. First, forty threetotal sixty two points. Then Eh l, seventy total with eighty three pointslike the numbers are just boom, like they just jump out at you with how many, how many guys they had that just produced like crazy for this programand that's really cool. If you look at lane a little deeper to no, I mean thecool thing about him is he was on the original team right and then he boughtin to Adam and Mat's strategy with the team and their philosophies, and hecame back for another year and there's no guarantee when you're starting thatfirst year team. How do you get guys to come back when you have no real history? But someone like Jacqueline, that's a great player for their program. Thatshows you that hey, we got good guys and they decided to come back becausethey built a really big program down there. They just keep getting betterand like that's. That's, that's trust in the process. Right IT S it s! That'swhat it is! Hmm Look at. You Trust to the process yeah I wrote or some oftheir phrases. I'm sure thought the seventy sixers say that so, alas, goingto be freaking all O helot's, a filly thing, it's a philly Ti Antou MaynardI've talked about the all star team, so much this of season players that playedfor a team, Eh l. He was possibly the best player on onethousand nine hundred and twenty team, Eh l, all star team- and I remember PatNorton from Tufts coming up to me after the FITZBERESFORD and then the Salemstate game and after the FITU game. Pat Goes I like this guy and then after theSalem state game he was like. I think I have fallen in love. I but answermaynard. I think he's a jumbo and he's Freddy, and he obviously is at toughsays as Jeff just mentioned, the Moose was the nickname right likehe was so good yeah. It O mandareen. Seventy three games. Eighty five points-and I remember him saying to me at one point- is like he's from Illinois rightand he's like I'm telling all my friends about the EH, because good inhis moan in his mind he was like. I was not this player that I was until I gothere and now he's at tost right and he's like a poster child of what youcan become and then you know. Obviously the ultimate dream for all kids is tomove on to play professionally, which is great but coming out of toughs he'sgoing to be fine, like he'l he'll have a job for like, like that. Like we getvery good school for all, viewed be very smart to get in, you can't be aslum yeah, so I mean I'll point out that my dad did go to tugs and I didn't,but it's all I did yes, Daniel Rappin d MD went to tough. I could have followedright in the what steps Jeff I could have, but I enjoy hockey more thandentistry, so nothing wrong with that in Quitabac, agreat school and a hard school to get into itself. So maybe you put Maynardin the DEBORD and Teramo category a little bit more because then you couldput Belinsky in the lane and guarante because he kind of had that same littlebit of edge to his a little bit of a Badia you could say, but like a I couldcontrol maniac right, yeah yeah like I remember there was a goal. He scoredthat help kind of spark them in the finals mean yes, they were. They were alittle bit sluggish out of the gates in the finals, and then he was kind of theone that really kind of broke the ice for them and they had a power move thatyou meant and those totally or take it out of the corner and I'm just going toskate right at the net and put it it like, and...

...we nations kids, we mentioned, not abig kid is a hundred and seventy pounds. He would he did not back down the playbig though yes, like in a hundred and twenty one career games in the ehowhundred and four points, like I'm sure, there's multiple guys here that arelike. If I had another year, I would catch the board. I easily think thatit's just all man some of these guys to like you wonder if they could just comeback. I know we've all talked about no ones make it excuses, but last yearbeing the coved year they get bull teams to finals. If you get some ofthose guys come back and knock on wood, this normal season, where you'replaying everybody. So when you get down to the frozen finals, because we talkedabout that right, I mean Matt and Adam were not shy about it, that they playedthe same teams and everybody played the same team. So when we got to the Brozia,it was all teams they had never seen before that season. So yeah I disusateof roster. I don't know right and I just use the the terminology post her child for afor a player. You could kind of say that K sun is the same way and hold onhold a la. I pull up the power point that I brought with me toNashville for my presentations this year, Adam luntic. I actually well he'sseen it he's seen it, but when I say poster child and I get tothe commitment slide like it is Kasota like he is on that side, Adam once toldme that that's the only thought I should be showing when I show off thepower point, an emense right as like. Well, there's other there's other partsto talk about than the just the commitments, but you know finals andthis and that, but I remember getting to this slide and when I first shortthe Adam, I mean Chits, a Justin squitter for putting this power pointtogether. The EP imself look at the look at thisco e graphic like and it's just your student story, though I think epitomizes like what it means to get acommitment right, like everything that he went through to commit to conticentcollege was the leading scorer in the EH L last year. With fifty nine pointsin the regular season to games, I think all year we didn'tget a point right like and like Britty was always like. He hasn't. He hasn'tdone anything for me, late Les, like he had a forestis game like he just goesout there and produces constantly right he's, always in the position heactually began with. The Connecticut chiefs then worked his way over to they seven throughout his Eh career, he played in ninety three total games. Ahundred and fourteen career points for him and he's going to have an awesome, career, Akaca College, and I put him on this slide that shows off all thecomminities had over the years because being from Japan and then coming andjust trusting what the show was like just like Antre Manard, like KennicutCollege, is a damn good school academically, like he's going to besaid when it went, is when his athletic career is over and for look at his past year, he'd thinkhe was able to go home and all this past year like like. I that's one ofthose things like we never really think about it. I guess you could saylike you and I other people during the season, like imagine being don't wantto say, stock but kind of locked into the location where you're at for aseven month period like it was a very real thing for a lot of guys in ourleague this year to still go out and produce the way that he did yeah. Imean even guys like how many Canadian guys do. We have an ear leg right now Imean that's right somewhere, we always think like. Oh, you know it's part ofNorth America, but borders were shot down and altering cobu you couldn't getinto Canada. You'd still have trouble getting in so yeah I mean Kas, theythey always said to KS and unbelievable human right, Mattie and Adam told usthat he's not only a great player but...

...he's a great human, and that's that'ssomething really really awesome to see, and it's really cool to see these guysfrom different hereges is like Kate that are making the game of hockey become a thing in theircountries. It's unbelievable. So that gives us already seven forwards so far and we're ripping through these formats, so ret throw let's go next swain next, because shortly after that, Belinsky telly likeone of the Games, he had two goals in that game. I can't remember whichfinals game it was, but I know he had to go two goals and when the puck wason his stick like he was as good a shooter as any kid. In this week therewas one g, maybe you'll, remember this. There was one game in the finals wherehe was in the slot and it was a pretty good screen in front. He just saw theexact span on the top corn and just picked it. Maybe Lumber Jacks, I'm planking thinkso. I know that that was a crazy. That was, that was the game that was thealmost that was almost the double goalie pull. That was the boy things. What we are down in Westchester, they sure did rod robins put you in weird positions right where do whereyou may consider a double gully pool, but sway everything fun do yes right.Swain spent kind of the second half of the nineteentwenty season and then the full two thousand and twenty one season with theT. seven in sixty eight career games, he had seventy six career points, so otherones. The points per game averages right like every God that we'vementioned so far was over a point for Game Yep. I thatthat has to be an automatic all those guys that are over point or gameplayers automatic into the line up like questions jest like Damn Bad, I you so,let's jump back kind of the past years now, because we've covered almost everyone of the kids will be just mentioned. Actually I shouldn't say that, becauseTarantino Manor and lane were not in last year's team, I imagine if theywere on last year's team man. That's I kind of gave it away attimes who I was pulling for on the stress, because you in you made it alot Ed clear. You were red train was red trained, coded Tamble red trainunderwear, going pretty made it very clear. She was all of them. The Rangers! No! I was kind of like secret- Am I guess in the background, but the kind of like a little bit of asassinate bit Yaik I did see, but then they got knocked up blue train and thenthey got knocked and you had like all these ottle secret teams that you likedand pulled for, but yeah. So let's go Jack macdonna next he was a captain forthe y seventh during the eighteen nineteen season and he actually waspart of the avalanche team. The year before that on that championship, seventeen eighteen moved over to the seven from Pennsylvania kind of just abetter fit for him for his EG year and advanced on to Manhattanville College. But I just remember like he was that was their first year in the EH L and Adam Si before andMatsadi before, like he was the perfect leader for them to have in their firstseason. At the HL level, a player that had eh l experience, one a championshipin the Eh l, a d and kind of knew. What to expect right and as I mentioned now,Ison or now is playing at Manhattanville College. A school thatwe brought up with you name it connor boys from the rough riders, Mason emoff on the lumber jacks. All these players have kind of just come togetherand become obviously new team mates there and in he is one of my favoriteplayers during his time in this league.

So I think I know I would be remiss tonot include Jack Madonna on this list and that's cool to jump in from oneexpansion team to another, too. You know that's interesting, going on theABS to the sevens and and there's a lot of fans a at home, saying the ABSexpansion team Jeff. They are everybody they o around, for that was that wastheir first year. Seventeen eighteen o this week Chris was at Chris was acoach from multiple years prior to that going into their fifth year. The lesbeen around for this could be our ninth year. This is night year, nine of theLeague Yep, so that Wud ean their expansion, if they weren't around theoriginal time equals expension right, everybody's re home, say I okay reallymoving on. I will now put in Trent Shanley, French shily is a name. Idon't remember eighteen. Nineteen at same, I, seventh team, had twenty nine points that year forthe Y, seven and now is that Fitzberesford University. We actuallyhave faced him with our all starteam in nineteen twenty season, which was gotof cool to see him go up against some some former teammates of his but trench.Shanley has to be on this list. Also part ofthat original eh L team for the eighty seven so we'redown to two forward shift. I knew it would be fast at the forwards with thiswith this program, with what they've accomplished in a short amount of timeyeah is they made the work a little too easy for us? I almost could say, andyou sent me the email last night I was like wow yeah. This is just it's justtoo easy to pick all these tave had they haven't had like a crumby playerinto the organization, really no, they might say otherwise, but I think I want to put Brian Van Ness onthis list. Okay, at a good plan. I know I ve speaking offrozen finals goals. I remember the goal that he was. He scored in thatlumber check game the last game. Trevor Black Bring out the best angleof it. Remember: Balence was going behind the net and before he got allthe way around, he put a back hand pass across the sot and then that just didnot miss like picked this spot and was like damn that was kind of sick. Wewent on replay a few quite a fist. I was that was nasty cemetery. Your Chef symetry, eighteighty games played eight in fifty points. Nice. You Re nice round wholenumbers as a point for Game Guy, like everyoneelse, that's kind of hard to do, but the eighty seven s make it look easy, but just a solid found da a piece for river to start off with this fall rightlike one of those forwards who were going to look up here halfway throughthe college season and be like Brian Vanessas, had had a twenty point.Twenty five point campaign for the brand new division, three program likewithout it us that's ano thing. You notice right: This team gets a lot ofcommitments, lashes, O teams, they get a lot of guys and not just commitmentsbook commitments to very variety of schools, good, very talentedD, Two and de three schools. Some of these guys are very smart players, likewe've seen going to tough and other big schools, Connecticut College like Kay's,going to so yeah well, rounded. That gives us one forward. Left HMM shootthat's hard to pick. There's a lot of good names left on this. I was justthinking about him too, of course, is the one that I open: Ye o MichaelHartberg M. Speaking of advancing on to programs going into their Anaga year atthe division, three level Herberg is going to Arcadia a part of a strongclass of players. That's had in off there. He played as physical as anyone on they sevens, and I think he was he was...

...able to set the tone for them when theyneeded to, because of that right. So in it throughout his career, he put insixty four total games and have thirty two points, and I think just like Van Ness will help set the table for Riviere. I think herdsboy will do thesame thing at Arcadia for sure twelve forwards, Jeff done toBaatoo check the time. I was at a record for how fast wefilled the forward sheet Debedin defenceman Trevor Seer. How to look? I already gotTrevor Seer Gorse winner Weeder, as rose still on well like or a God there's Eterne week, let's startwith seer, because he actually liked Jack Lane was part of that. Seventeen, eighteen eh, LP team, youand then spent two years as an assistant captain on the EH L team andone of the best shots from the point that this league has had helped helpsrun their power play, I'm just to go with the numbers like we did for leftshot. What does left shot defense men for late for seer in forty one HLPGames, you add thirty five points, a D and then in eighty eight eh l games. Hehad sixty one points so, but one of the original guys that just trust Ed, thatprocess and now is that Uma starmen as well and went from the very first year ofthe program. Seventeen eighteen and falled fall things werent along anddidn't feel like he had to go anywhere else and let's let acly was paid offwith with his commitment. So they say if an at broke, don't fix it all right. George wear another easy wold was probably second place for a defensemanof the year. This past year, behind Joe Hanson, a tremendous get for the WentworthInstitute of Technology spent two years with the program overall and quick math. Eighty twocareer games, fifty eight points just steady, like always in the rightposition as well and, like I said for Wentworth a teamthat last time we saw them play things out,had advanced all the way to the CCCII game. On the back of conor Carbo on hercarbo another from the long Jacor Lumbo, so yeah will become teammates. Now,with George Weener, who was a leader, was a captain for the yseventh team in his final year and I'm sure it will be the same when he getsto Wentworth. So do we want to let's see here? There's two other D. I have pulled up. Oh yeah, there's another couple of easyones. Let's go. Let's go back for a second, because Vickers Justin Vickerswas not a part of this. Past Year's team is on the eighteen, nineteen andnineteen twenty teams and again on t M H, hell in two thousand and nineteen. He was just like when he had the pock on his stick. Youdidn't have to worry right, like you knew like he was going to make theright pass or get it out of the zone the way he need to not the biggest D,five ten right, not compared to the next tee that we're going to highlight, but just steady at Stevenson now, which has also become a little bit of apipe line for the ghtened the last couple of years so and never t needs atleast one of those you right out of your six defence or you got to have atleast one type of vicars type guy that can, I you said, carry through allthree zones and bail. Your team out...

...maybe help some of your other playersthat maybe aren't as fast brain wise as you may be. If you want to put it that way and asmart player. So that's that's a that's another easy one. Another may not befancy type Guy Vickers, but a very important type guy. So we all from thefive ten vickers. I know it says six one the first or than that dude. Ithank you. When a first time I saw Gutierez dillin goodies, I was like Ididn't know he was that big, like, like I say, I'm six one, I'm like I'mbetween six and six one, I'm not that Tim he's definitely tolly and he andlike speaking of like trust in the process, he was a kid that during thinea twenty season, I don't want to say got pushed down to the ELP, but had anhonest conversation with the coaching staff. It was like. We need you to playsome games down there to get yourself more ready for the next level and forsome kids that could frustrate you right, because maybe that means that onsome other Eh l teams that never happens to you but he's like you knowwhat? Let's, let's trust, what the coaches are saying, I'm going to godown there, I'm going to keep developing and then in return he was afull Eh. It was a full time, eh l guy this past year and and was one of thetop ten defensemen on the leak. I think he had to be in that category, so thatability you gotta have coach ability, Yep, six H, l, P games had three points, but overall sixty six HL games of forty one like Teremai, another California, kid right, which is awesome to see the T. Seven get the Andrew mainers fromIllinois, the Tim to boards from Colorado, the Gutierez and in theTERREMONDE from California they're bringing kids from Kasota from Japan, they're bringing thekids from everywhere. But it makes sense because we know Adam and matty alove to they love hockey. They eat sleep and drink they're, also co owners. If we didn't mention that on this episode, Yet yes, so they have a verybig vest of the interst literally in their program. So they go everywhereand that's how you find the best team. You find guys, like you just saidCalifornia, starting to become a hot bit for frock, then you know the Westis starting up really start to show out. You get guys, are gossome at theseArizona. So you've got to find these goody eras and the Teremai and thosetype of guys that are out west, because yeah there's a lot of good hockey outhere in Nongal, but there's a lot of good hockey elsewhere in this countrytoo. That's we haven't, we haven't put a returner on the list yet for the eightysets. So I think I want to put that Herrick here next, because the coaching staff there and cooners IPstaff, like expect big things from herrick this year, like right, like ashis turned and now take someone spot Etageres, be the George weener be thetravers year from two years ago. It's herric stern now is an old one. Thispast year played in thirty four Total Games had twenty two points: a Jersey, kid from right, there, Jackson New Jersey, so I think I don't want to getahead of myself, but, like he's the early candidate to be an all start, Yeeasy Canada to beat all star this yeah for sure. Absolutely. That is a goodothro present on this list here yet like so that a present now we're got akind of an interesting spot here, because I have thought about this prior to recording the last team of the week andit's crazy. We got to the last one chef we made it. We made a buddy, we made it there's a player, there's a player thathasn't played an EH l game yet for them, but will this year hm, as as you want to put them on thislist? Yes, so I'm going back into last year's Eh, LP roster and then byFortoul, who was the EH LP top prospect...

...as I as no, we limited it to Oh threeand o four: it's essentially the EH L P's version of the rookie of the year right. I think that's the way you haveto look o yes and, like I remember saying to like talking to Maddie about him, andthere were times last year, remade was like he may be the best defenseman inthe organization like that's skailing. He may develop inthe best defense man in the organization. He's. Oh three like andthey're, adding in eighteen ten this year, so maybe he gets the chance toplay eighteen and eh an HL. Okay, it's gonna, be busy. Tell you a busy yearfor him could be a TRIFECTA. Isn't that crazy? He was seventeen last year wowas I remember him at the brows of Binley, and it is it's Pitfour becauseI remember anthea baby saying is fit for the Vattal says: pither Ben PlasePiso tell us how you want to be said. Don't be shyed well es! Well, let themcorrect us after the episode, let's Erye Christmas in this etext o,but I mean we haven't mentioned. They won the HLP championship last year.Right so like like this to me, it fits right like Oh, absolutely, that's itand I like that outside the box type, think and then it's present, maybe fora couple years, O sixty four years. Hopefully so that gets us to goalies and I think the first like good goal isthe first one to me, though, that really stands out is e and Grif, because here's the every year with the avalanche actually and like look at thenumbers when he went over to the T, even one thousand nine hundred andtwenty have seen game a good one point: Three: eight goals: against average, nine, three nine save percentage, a thirteen and two record five shadow. It's no big deal and like what still is like crazy about thatnineteen. Twenty season, the eighty seventh, the Rangers, the e avalanche, the lumber ex did, but those other three never got a chance to play aplayoff game o hip right. It's like Oh my season. I know there's so many bignames on all those teams will never know how that season wouldhave. I just like we almost have to create it on, like n Hl, twenty one oyeah. I do like some sort of Sim because, like I want to see how thatwas going to finish out, that is the three teams I just mentioned. Eightyseven avalanche and Rangers right and lumbershed like they all thought theycould have won. They all all had like just massive pieces like rife and allthose different names that we have thrown out into the ether over the lastbunch of episodes. That Yep would have been huge. I be Grit, and just lookingat that you five shouts of fifteen games almost half of his day. He hasshut out. That's not her a man, it's insane, so he's locked in and then John Copack right lees for your player, let like three year guy fortyone going to curry forty one wins to his careerrange. Eighth, all time. So I to s guy would steady right. No,it Senebi! I get other a kid that I was like. I he's that big I didn't realizehe was like the bat tall right. So I think that, like as to have to be like this, Iright, like I'm sure, I'm sure copeck is like he's mystery and he's seven. Iwas here just as long tree right case, hello, like I six one like Goodyera, like you're, bigger than six one man. I know I know your was goalie skatesyou're like six three. He might be six three six four, but I guess that forty one wins for himthroughout his career in the EHEL. So I think John Coppack, without a doubt, isa lock for this roster and we haven't...

...even used this word yet jeff. What do I do with the last spot? I wasjust going to say: There's a lot of d. We left off this wire there's a lot offorwards. We left off and what do we just close our eyes for in the screen? That's a good one, like you literally, could do that. It sounds like a joke, but that's how good this team has been a D and e e, as you would feelconfident in that poverson. That's et it's still someone good like you and there's a couple of names that guysthat didn't work out with their team that moved on one of them was. We both saw a lot of the edge. Lastyear CT Johnson. He had a like a hot cup of coffee with the eighty seven sothen moved up to the East Coast Wizards so, and they had a couple of guys therewere. There are still good players in our league that didn't make it to theirteam because they're so deep, yeah and like like how macdonna found I meanit's funny right like it's, not that they had to get to that new team. It'sjust sometimes that changes, scenery, helps and Grif right. The change ofscenery was awesome for that. For that kid right, I was McDonald m McDonaldwas up in New Hampshire and just and then he goes, some plays in NewJersey's changing and he was successful in New Hampshire, successful in NewJersey. So you know it was funny, as I'm sure I'm sure Adamis going to laugh at this section, because Adam's step, son, Jake Clarus, played a couple. Eh L P games for the e sevens. Oh yeah, I mean like tore it uplike so he's the one that's on the ties yeah to see the yeah okay. I don't knowif I'll be able to find the box score at this quickly, but he played we couldthrow him in his e Utilta Guy. It would be kind of funny like wait a minutewhat so it was the there. You Go. Eighteen nineteen season, patric. So what's funny about the hat trick, is they were playing therenegades and they were losing going into the third period and it was like Jake en in the lock room was like flip, the switch I'm going to go out and just got the Hatch Rick and win the game forthis tame in the third period. I don't know. No, I don't know if Adam wouldwant him on this list, it would be kind of funny it would be. It would fit theutility right, because we have no idea what to do with that position eachroster, but it was kind of fit finding that last guy, but that wasn't aawesome story. I am looking at the box when I was funny. I was like Oh they're,losing oh they're, winning in Sar Jake Ruso to this chat. Hello says I go up aquick caddy into the back of the bucket. Thank you have a good day. I mean yougot calculs a huge name. We haven't mentioned all sorts of guys on thislist. As you know, what I got it. Oh ended up with the team put his organson the ice shut. He was he's toughest, Ol Man, I Jacob Crespo, also going tocurry, like the with with John copack on, were expressed in just to just likego through like his career, like crazy right, EH, l, P season with walpoleseventeen eighteen e, a shell season with Walpole eighteen nineteen, a fullseason in the NA, with the main nor deks in one thousand nine hundred andtwenty. He Gan this past you with the man nor deeks right. He actually hasthe first goal in main nor deak's history and the a yes ot. Yes, it'scrazy, so beautiful state of maid. We love the Nordics, don't we know whatthat's? Why Ere picking I'm Jeff you son of a peep? We know we know whyyou picked Crespo. Well, he was someone I remember Baddy and Adam talking towas when we stand up all this late nights and he's a tough son of e youand they were like when they added him in it was right around the same deadline as the trade deline, the roster frees you name it whatever you want tocall it like one of the best gets at that time, maybe in the historyof our league honestly, like the impact...

...that he had right away. Sixteen Gameseleven points and just played huge minutes for them on their run to the frozenfiles. I like that pick good job commission, so coming up next week. We're going to take this sixteen all time, Eh love that we've done and puttogether the all time, eh lot up of the all time, players, which can also include a few players from teams that no longer existin the HL, so you can cut. You can count on it right now. Kate and crimewill be one of the goalies. Like I e, he will be one of the goals but tonarrow things down to twelve six and two plus utility for the all time history, the EHL'sgoing to be tough, that's going to be the first half of the episode. Thesecond half will be an El p. all time want up, but we're focusing it on Eh l,P players that have climbed on to the EH L and ten college fuck, because thehard sercial that we talk about oversides and there are some hlpplayers that haven't followed that path that had good careers in the HL people. We really want to highlight the kids that have trusted the process againright and on right through from the e hlp on to the HL and then on to collegehockey. So, as I mentioned that this is the eighty seventh episode this weeknext week is that episode I did to read the line up, the the full of theforward to the seven Tim de Board: Dante, Teramo, Zach, Tarantino,Jacqueline Andrew Maynard Matt, Bolinski Kayasta, Nick Swaine Jackmcdonagh, Trent Shanley, Brian Van Es and Michael Hertzberg Defensive Corpsof Trevor Seer George Weener Justin, Vickers Dillon, Gutierez, Matt, HerrickBen Pither Fifer got we got to figure. That out is because he's a chip, player,Akom Crespo En Grif and John Copeck, and that's that's the team man, it's anawesome team and I think it's a perfect ending to all the teams of the weekfrom this summer. As I mentioned, we have those all time of the all time, one ups next week and in the following week, the season preview, it's a crazybaby right around the corner. So I must e e best for last episode, T see yseven. That was pretty well. They also wanted to do it when their trainingcamp was started, and I was like I also love cemetery. So eighty seventhepisode New Jersey. Eighty seven there's no other team in the leaguethat has a I e, a number, a numeral as their as their their team names. So Ithink it just fit perfectly. We love controversy to so maybe we did say thebest for astor me. We didn't. I don't know, that's that's where all you athome to this we need to do a poll will do a pull we'll. Do It love it love itlove it love. It stir that pop I be stir pot baby I'll talk to you nextweek sounds good, see you!
